Walker Endorses Jess Ripp for State Senate
Milwaukee, WI
- Milwaukee County Executive and Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Scott
Walker has announced his endorsement of Jess Ripp for State Senate in the
7th District. The district, located in Milwaukee County, includes portions
of the City of Milwaukee, and the cities of Cudahy, St. Francis, South
Milwaukee, and Oak Creek.
“I am proud to announce my support of Jess Ripp for State Senate,” said
Walker. “Now more than ever we need fiscally responsible legislators who
understand the need to lower taxes and reduce the size of government. Jess
is the right candidate to control spending and lower the tax burden on
Wisconsin's families and businesses.”
Ripp, a Milwaukee area attorney, said, “I am honored to have Scott Walker’s
support. As County Executive, Scott has done an outstanding job working to
control spending and to hold the line on property taxes. In Madison, our
top priorities must be to reign in out of control spending, lower taxes, and
promote stable and long term job growth. I look forward to working with
Scott next year to begin turning Wisconsin around.”
Both Ripp and Walker will continue to take their message of fiscal
responsibility and job growth to the voters through the election on November
2nd.
Jess Ripp is a lifelong Wisconsin resident and a native of Milwaukee
County. Prior to graduating from Marquette University, he owned and
operated a painting company, which gave him an inside perspective of the
import role small businesses play in the economy. As an Attorney, Jess
assists his clients with issues relating to asset management. His strong
community ties, Eagle Scout badge, and business and legal background have
all shaped his conservative values and his desire to see a fiscally
responsible government.

Local Attorney Jess Ripp Announces Candidacy for
Wisconsin’s 7th Senate District
Milwaukee, WI - “Over the last year, we have all
watched the Governor and his Cronies in the Legislature increase taxes and
spending more than our business base and industrial climate can afford; I
can no longer watch the future of this great and beautiful state continue to
be crippled by the anti-business policies of the current administration -
it‘s time to act,” said Jess Ripp, as he announced his candidacy on the
Republican ticket for Wisconsin’s 7th Senate District.
Ripp believes new representation is needed, as the
interests of hard-working families and business owners have been cast aside
for partisan politics and out-of-touch liberal policies. He says the
Democrat-led Legislature, including the current Senator from the 7th
District, have created a fiscal and regulatory climate that is stifling job
growth and harming families at a time when Wisconsin and its populace can
least afford it.
“Our state is hemorrhaging jobs and it’s causing people
to worry about their own financial security and future stability,” Ripp
said. “But to make matters worse, the legislative Democrats’ only response
has been increasing fees and implementing billions of dollars in new taxes
for government programs which we can no longer afford. These regulations
directly take money from where it would be utilized most effectively which
is by our citizens, employees and the job creators.”
As a concerned Wisconsin citizen, Ripp is deeply
troubled by one report after another that places Wisconsin at the bottom, or
near bottom, of states in which to locate or grow a business. He believes
past and current budgeting practices by the Governor and Legislature have
created this disturbing trend, and says their collective efforts to raise $5
billion in new taxes and increase state spending by nearly 7% this year
alone will continue to weaken Wisconsin‘s economy, unless the political
landscape is changed in 2010.
“For the first time in more than a quarter-century,
Wisconsin state government is entirely controlled by the Democratic Party;
and it has taken less than a year to realize that this shift of power to the
policies of liberal-Madison are not working for the people of 7th Senate
District,” said Ripp.
“We need to restore the balance in this state and
recapture our competitive edge as a great place to live, work, and raise a
family,” Ripp concluded. “I would consider it an honor and a privilege to
serve my constituents as their next State Senator, and will work diligently
to provide them with the true representation they deserve.”
Jess Ripp has been a Wisconsin resident and Milwaukee
County native for his entire life. He has strong ties to the local
community which were reinforced when he earned his Eagle Scout Badge. He
attended both Marquette University High School and Marquette University.
While in college he founded and ran his own painting company and because of
this he understands the nature of local small business. He currently works
as an Attorney and primarily handles issues relating to asset management for
a small client base. These experiences have reinforced his strong fiscally
conservative foundation.
The 7th State Senate district includes all of the
following territory in Milwaukee County, as follows: the city of Milwaukee
comprising wards 39, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56,
57, 58, 59, 216, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230, 232, 233,
234235, 236, 237, 238, 239, 240, 241, 249, 250, 251, 252, 253, 254, 255,
256, and 257; the cities of Cudahy, St. Francis, Oak Creek, and South
Milwaukee.
